How To Increase Your Productivity: GREAT Free Tool

Over the last 6 months or so, I’ve been using a simple tool that’s had a tremendous impact on my productivity, and I wanted to pass it along to you.

It’s called the Pomodoro technique, and it’s incredibly easy to use.

In fact, it’s simplicity is what makes it so effective.

I’m going to give you a few links to check it out, in just a minute… however, first let me just share some of the basics with you.

In a nutshell, short, but very focused bursst of effort have proven to be the fastest, and most efficient way of getting things done.

The problem is, most of us are multi-taskers and tend to do two, three, or even more things at once.

So for example, you might be writing an e-mail to send out to your list, while at the same time… you’re also going back and forth with an article you’re reading online… while also going back and forth checking your e-mails.

The problem is, every time you “switch” between activities — especially things that demand more than just some kind of fleeting concentration (like writing e-mails), you wind up having to “re-adjust” to the task at hand.

And this costs you a LOT of time.

However, the flip side of this coin isn’t very appealing: banging out hours and hours of tedious, mind-numbing work doesn’t exactly make you make feel like jumping for joy, either.

And that’s why I’ve found the Pomodoro technique to be so powerful.

It allows you to focus on periodic, structured pockets of work… and gives you more than ample rest breaks, as well.

Now I can’t use this technique all day long.  BUT… I find I can easily apply it across the morning, let’s say… and I wind up getting more done during this time-frame, than I’d typically get done all day long, anyway.

So in a sense, whatever “extra” work you do in the afternoon, is a bonus for you.

Let me share some links with you:

Here’s everything you’d want to know about the Pomodoro technique.

Here’s an interview with Francesco Cirillo, the creator of the program.

Here’s a copy of the step-by-step details of the program, including how to BEST use it for maximum leverage.  This is an e-book, but if you prefer a hard copy of the book, I know it’s also available on amazon.

You should read through this material, because a lot of your success in using this program, is going to be based on the clarity you have about what you’re trying to accomplish.  And understanding the philosophy behind the program, is going to give you this clarity.

Here’s how the program works.  You sit and focus on ONE thing only, for 25 minutes (one “Pomodoro”)

Your work is timed, and then after each Pomodoro, you then take a five minute break.

After two or three Pomodoros, you then take a slightly longer break, to recharge.

Once you start following this program, you’ll find even your break time will be spent more efficiently.

You can do a search on Google for Pomodoro timers, that monitor your progress… but the one I like best, is called Orkanizer.

The amazing thing is, there’s absolutely NO cost for this program, and it will take you no MORE than an hour or so, to go through all this information and have your Pomodoro up and running.

Let me know how it’s going, once you start working with it.
