How to get out of any rut you are in:

We all get stuck in a rut from time to time. Sometimes you find yourself in a hole you wish you never started digging, circumstances overwhelming you with no easy way out.

You may have wound up there because of some bad decision-making or unavoidable mistakes… sometimes you just don’t “know any other way”… and other times it’s just the normal cycle of “life.”

You know, just like the bumper stickers say, sometimes “Shit Happens.”

But the next time you find yourself in a situation like this, remember this advice I’m about to pass along to you. It’s helped me immensely, and I’m pretty sure it will help you, too.

See, it’s human nature that when we have dug a hole for ourselves, ironically, our first reaction is to simply dig faster and harder. But in reality, that’s no better than trying to make up on a close to zero profit margin, by selling more volume. That’s just a game you can’t win.

So here’s the trick: when you find you’ve dug yourself into a deep hole, the key is to put the shovel DOWN and get out of it. Simply stop digging.

If you are able to do this, your entire vantage point changes, and then you’re able to look at your own situation with more clarity and understanding. Sometimes human nature is wrong, and this is one of those times.

Remember this the next time you’re in a mess, and it will help you. Like I said to one of the folks in my Mastermind group recently: “Don’t dwell on the past, look forward and move ahead TODAY. Yesterday has nothing to do with today or tomorrow unless you let it.”

P. S. And speaking of being in a rut, this month’s Audio Success CD is an interview with best-selling author Steven Pressfield, the man who knows more about overcoming procrastination and resistance at the gut level, than anyone else.
